# Rippling

Rippling supports the [HRIS Sync](/integrations/overview#capabilities). It synchronizes the list of all employees, their departments, and managers into AccessOwl. It also allows for automated onboarding based on an employee’s start date and automated offboarding based on contract end dates.

## Capabilities

    AccessOwl integrates with HRIS platforms to automate employee onboarding and offboarding. It also syncs all employees to AccessOwl, including details such as their title, department, and manager.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

## Setup

1. Go to [Settings → Directory Integrations](https://app.accessowl.io/settings?tab=directory-integrations).
2. Find the **HRIS** section and select **Connect**.
3. Search for **Rippling** and follow the setup flow.

## Workaround if Rippling API is not available

If you do not have access to Rippling’s API, you can still automate onboarding and offboarding by syncing Rippling with Google Workspace. AccessOwl then reads Google Workspace as your HRIS source.

### Steps

1. **Connect Rippling to Google Workspace**

   <Note>
     You do not need to buy Google Workspace licenses through Rippling. During the Rippling-to-Google-Workspace setup, Rippling offers a checkbox to opt out of billing Google Workspace through them. The HRIS data sync into Google Workspace still works either way.
   </Note>

2. **Configure Google Workspace as your HRIS in AccessOwl**

   Follow [Google Workspace as HRIS](/integrations/all/google-workspace-as-hris) to create the `start_date` and `end_date` custom fields, map your Rippling schema, and finalize the setup with AccessOwl support.
