Required permissions
To set up Okta directory sync, you need Super Admin permissions in your Okta organization. The directory sync integration needs to read users and groups from your Okta directory and push users into groups. While other admin roles like Org Admin might seem sufficient, they may result in connection errors during configuration. Super Admin ensures all necessary permissions are available for the sync to work properly. When setting up the sync, generate an API token with Super Admin privileges in Okta and use this token to configure the directory sync connection.Capabilities
Directory Sync
AccessOwl syncs (creates, removes, or deactivates) users from directories like Slack, Microsoft365, Okta, or Google into the AccessOwl users database.
HRIS Sync
Okta can be used as a replacement system for an HRIS. This is only recommended if you are not using any other HRIS. AccessOwl integrates with HRIS platforms to automate employee onboarding and offboarding. It also syncs all employees to AccessOwl, including details such as their title, department, and manager.
