Once your applications, integrations, and policies are set up, the last step is introducing AccessOwl to the people who will use it. Most of your company only needs to know one thing: where to find AccessOwl when they need access to an app.

Rollout checklist

tick them off as you go!
  • Spread ownership. Assign each application’s Business Owner to the person who actually owns the app. One person owning every application becomes a bottleneck for approvals and reviews. See Application Admins & Business Owners for how to reassign them, including in bulk.
  • Assign at least two Application Admins to each application. If one is sick or on vacation, the other can take over.
  • Integrate as many applications as possible. The more apps are integrated with AccessOwl, the fewer manual provisioning and deprovisioning tasks are left for your Application Admins. See the integrations overview.
  • Import user lists for apps without an integration, so access reviews and offboardings cover them too. See importing user lists.
  • Connect your HRIS. It syncs manager information for approvals and unlocks Zero Touch Onboarding, so new joiners get their apps automatically.
  • Review your approval policies. A Manager approval step auto-approves requests while the requester has no manager assigned, which is common before your HRIS is connected. Until then, use the Business Owner or Application Admins as the approver.
  • Share each role’s quickstart page, so everyone knows what they’ll receive and what’s expected of them: Business Owners, Application Admins, Managers, HR
  • Announce AccessOwl to the whole company, including where to find it (see below).

Where your employees find AccessOwl

The AccessOwl Slack app is installed once for your whole Slack workspace. There is nothing for employees to install or enable, everyone can use it right away:
  • Search for AccessOwl in the Slack search bar, or click Tools in the sidebar and select Apps
  • The app’s Home tab is where they request access and track their requests
  • Typing /request in any channel starts an access request directly
  • On the web, the App Hub shows all their accessible and available apps

Announce it

Share this in your company-wide channel or by email, adjusted to your tone:

What each group will start receiving
