AccessOwl integrates with Descript to provision and deprovision user access in your Descript Drive.
The Descript integration requires the Descript Enterprise plan. Descript offers the Drive admin role only on Enterprise, and on the Hobbyist, Creator, and Business plans only the Drive owner can remove members. Each Drive has a single owner, so the integration account cannot get the access it needs on those plans. You can still add Descript to AccessOwl without the integration, and access requests go to the Application Admin to complete in Descript.

Provisioning

AccessOwl invites users to your Descript Drive with the specified role during access requests.

Deprovisioning

AccessOwl removes members from your Descript Drive during access revocations.

Prerequisites

  • A Descript Enterprise plan.
  • An available Editor seat for the integration account.
  • Drive owner or Drive admin access in Descript, so you can invite the integration account and make it a Drive admin.

Setup

Add Descript in AccessOwl

Either add a new application or open Applications and click the +-symbol, then continue.

Invite the integration account as Editor

AccessOwl shows you the integration account’s email address. In Descript:
  • Press Command/Control + , to open Settings.
  • Select the Members tab.
  • Enter the integration account’s email address in the Invite by email field.
  • Select Editor as the role and click Send invite.

Make the integration account a Drive admin

Once the integration account appears in the member list:
  • In the Members tab, click … next to the integration account’s role.
  • Select Make drive admin.
The integration account needs both an Editor seat and the Drive admin role. Editor is a paid seat in Descript, and the Drive admin role is required because only the Drive owner and Drive admins can remove members from a Drive. Without it, the integration account cannot deprovision users.
